Controller

The controller for the processing described here, within the meaning of Art. 4 (7) GDPR, is Ivan Chabanenko, Einzelunternehmen (sole proprietorship), Lutherstraße 12, 39112 Magdeburg, Germany. Email: privacy@verlango.app. There is no statutory obligation to appoint a data protection officer, and none has been appointed.

Overview

Verlango helps two people talk across languages. This policy explains what we process when you use live translation and how we keep it private. We collect as little as possible and never sell your data.

What we process

Audio is captured only while a translation session is active. Speech is transcribed and translated to provide the live result, then discarded. We do not keep recordings of your conversations. Basic, anonymised diagnostics (such as crashes) help us keep the app reliable.

Voice & audio

When voice output is on, translations are synthesised on demand. Audio is not stored after a session unless you choose to save a transcript.

Saved conversations

Saved conversations stay on your device and, if you sign in, sync to your account. You can delete them at any time, or enable auto-delete after 7, 30 or 90 days.

Your account

If you create an account, we store your name, email and subscription status to sync your data and manage billing. You can use Verlango as a guest without an account.

Your choices

You can use Verlango as a guest, turn off history, revoke microphone access, and export or delete your data from Settings → Privacy. To request a full copy or deletion of your data, contact us at the address below.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data (Art. 15), to have it corrected (Art. 16) or erased (Art. 17), to restrict processing (Art. 18), to data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing (Art. 21). Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future.

Right to lodge a complaint

Under Art. 77 GDPR you may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the member state of your residence, place of work or of the alleged infringement. The authority responsible for the controller is the Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Sachsen-Anhalt, Otto-von-Guericke-Straße 34a, 39104 Magdeburg, Germany (datenschutz.sachsen-anhalt.de).
